So what changes? The figure above comes from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/18230\/000001823026000057\/cat-20260930.htm\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caterpillar&#8217;s quarterly filing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which calls it preliminary and subject to working capital adjustments. Treat it as an estimate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Caterpillar Fabick CAT acquisition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a change of ownership at a dealership. Caterpillar didn&#8217;t buy a factory or a product line. It bought the business that sells, rents, and services CAT equipment in this territory. He joined the company in 1990, so he brings more than 35 years of Caterpillar experience. Along the way he&#8217;s worked in mining, power and energy, finance, and operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He held finance leadership roles in the Large Power Systems and Excavation divisions, served as Chief Financial Officer of the Construction Industries segment from Singapore, and ran an advanced component manufacturing business. Most recently he led the Industrial Power Systems Division, which covers engines up to 18 liters and retail generators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Does that matter here?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fabick CAT sells generators, runs rental fleets, and carries a lot of financing. On paper, it&#8217;s a sensible fit. Chairman and CEO Joe Creed said finishing the deal ensures the service and support Fabick customers expect will continue. Keep one distinction in mind, though. Its network still counts about 160 independent dealers serving 197 countries, and Fabick CAT is now a manufacturer-owned exception. It isn&#8217;t the first. Caterpillar already owns Nippon Caterpillar in Japan, and Equipment World notes it held <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.equipmentworld.com\/dealers\/article\/16349420\/caterpillar-completes-fabick-cat-acquisition-names-ceo\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carter Machinery from 1988<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> until managers bought it back in 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The distinction is why this one matters. Normally Caterpillar builds the machines, while independent owners put up their own capital to sell, rent, and service them. Here the manufacturer owns the counter too.
