Three new models of compact excavators have been launched by Volvo Construction Equipment: the 9-metric-ton ECR90, the 7-metric-ton EC65 crawler, and the 7-metric-ton wheeled EW65. With an emphasis on general construction, utilities, landscaping, and agricultural applications, these machines are made to perform better, be more versatile, and provide a more comfortable operating experience.

Each of the three models replaces its predecessor: the ECR90 replaces the ECR88D, the EC65 replaces the EC60E, and the EW65 replaces the EW60E. The new excavators are designed to achieve greater results across a variety of jobsites, according to Xavier Beaud, head of technology for Volvo CE’s compact business unit. They offer increased engine power, improved digging and lifting performance, longer service intervals, and completely updated operator environments.

ECR90: More Performance, Smaller Design

Because of its short tail swing, the 9-metric-ton ECR90 is unique in that it can function effectively in confined spaces while still offering the capabilities of a larger machine. The engine power in this wheeled excavator for sale has increased by 28% and the cab is 30% larger than its predecessor. The ECR90 has a significant advantage in digging, lifting, and maneuvering thanks to improvements in hydraulic flow of 15%, bucket force of 13%, arm digging force of 11%, and tractive force of 7%. All the data have been just revealed to make the evaluation better for the buyers.

More Flexibility, More Power with EC65 and EW65

The wheeled EW65 produces 6% more horsepower than the tracked EC65, which only gains 4%. Both models have a 9% increase in boom lifting force and a doubling of the hydraulic flow rate. With its selectable work modes and top speed of 18.6 miles per hour, the wheeled EW65 allows operators to customize performance for digging, traveling, or parked tasks.

Cabs Redesigned and Features That Are Operator-Friendly

All three mini excavators have redesigned cabs that aim to improve operator comfort and control. The new seats come with optional air suspension, wider adjustable armrests, and a tiltable left-hand console for easier entry and exit. High-definition touchscreens provide access to attachment presets, rear and side camera views, service interval settings, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Volvo has also outfitted these models with tiltrotator attachments, which allow operators to rotate and tilt implements for increased productivity without leaving the cab. Larger fuel tanks, longer service intervals, ground-level access to service points, and either standard or advanced telematics ensure the machines’ efficiency and ease of maintenance. The connectivity platform allows for integration with future service enhancements, and all three models are compatible with Volvo’s entire line of compact excavator attachments.

Availability and Specifications

The new ECR90, EC65, and EW65 are now available to order. Volvo intends to debut the ECR90 and EC65 at ConExpo 2026, which will take place March 3-7, alongside other equipment. The ECR90 weighs between 19,340 and 23,170 pounds, delivers 73 horsepower, and offers a maximum hydraulic flow of 50 gallons per minute. The EC65 weighs 12,680 to 15,020 pounds and produces 62 horsepower, whereas the EW65 weighs 13,490 to 16,320 pounds, produces 67 horsepower, and can reach speeds of up to 18.6 mph.
