Dynapac, a leading Swedish manufacturer of compaction and paving equipment, recently introduced a new smooth-drum compactor called the CC2200 VI at the ConExpo-Con/Agg event held in Las Vegas. The roller weighs 8 to 10 tonnes (9.1 mt) and belongs to the CC2200 VI to CC3800 VI series of compactors.

Improved Features

The new CC2200 VI offers several improved features such as better paver results, efficient operation, and operator comfort. The machine is available in split-drum and combination models, and the drum widths range from 59 to 66 inches (1,500 to 1,680 millimeters). The company plans to commence serial production by the end of 2023.

Enhanced Operator Visibility

The CC2200 VI can be ordered with either a ROPS cabin or an operator’s platform and a rollover protection system. The machine has a 7-inch touchscreen and a redesigned operator interface. The seat and steering module can slide fully and swivel 90 degrees in either direction. The operator has an unobstructed view in every direction due to the 360-degree pedestrian detection camera capability. The compactor’s water tank, which is corrosion-free, is mounted low, enabling the driver to have a clear view of the drum surface and spray nozzles. Additionally, the driver has a 3.3 by 3.3-foot (1 by 1-meter) front vision.

Advanced Engine Technology

The CC2200 VI to CC3800 VI series of compactors are equipped with Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V engines that have an automatic idle capability. The machines’ default ECOMode setting can reduce diesel fuel consumption by up to 20% more. Biodegradable hydraulic fluid, edge pressers in various locations, chip spreader configuration, automatic climate control, 255 degrees of seat rotation, and several other options are available.

Seismic Systems and Dyn@Lyzer Compaction Control

The CC2200 VI to CC3800 VI compactors’ onboard seismic systems can reduce the number of passes necessary and save time, fuel, and operational expenses. The seismic feature automatically determines the vibration frequency that is appropriate for the material and modifies it as conditions change. The Dyn@Lyzer compaction control and documentation system is available as an option. Dyn@Lyzer records the temperature of the asphalt and the total number of passes made. It functions as both a compaction optimization tool and a quality control and assurance system. Additionally, it maps the compressed layer’s stiffness and stiffness progression. Dyn@Lyzer’s open interface is compatible with various third-party products and supports Topcon, Leica, and Trimble compaction control systems.

Machine Specifications

While there are few details available on the new CC2200 VI, the standard CC2200 has a compaction width of 59 in. and an operating mass of 16,800 pounds (7,620 kilogrammes) with ROPS. The front and back of the machine have the same static linear load of 361 pounds per square inch. (25.3 kilograms per centimeter). The offset on the CC2200 is 13.2 in. (335 mm). The compactor has a 42% gradeability rating and a top speed of 7.5 mph (12 km/h).
