A new Fluid Analysis program is being introduced by Volvo Construction Equipment. With the addition of lubricants, diesel fuels, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), and coolants, the service is now broadening on its already existing Oil Analysis program.

Fleet Testing and Maintenance

Customers will be getting equipped with this new program so they can take precautions against contamination and wear. Edward Goodchild, the company’s head of repair and maintenance was of the opinion that the importance of fluid analysis cannot be overstated. Seeing as the early identification of these subtle patterns and anomalies can prevent costly equipment failures, minimize downtime, and extend the machine’s lifespan, the necessity of dependable fluid analysis is quite obvious.

The first artificial intelligence (AI) platform-driven analysis by Volvo CE to detect wear metals, pollutants, or changes in fluid conditions is called fluid analysis. The new method makes use of data analysis to offer the clients with reports and insights to help them in decision-making. AI quickens the testing process so that lab professionals can concentrate on more important tasks like evaluating unusual samples.

Through a relationship with a testing provider, the Fluid Analysis program additionally expands the number of testing labs to 20 locations worldwide, four of which are in North America. This will make the sampling and analysis processes simpler for all the dealers and consumers that take part in the program by enabling them to use global data.

Analysis of Fluids

Customers can take advantage of the initiative by signing a service agreement with their local Volvo CE heavy equipment dealer or by purchasing a standalone sample kit.

The Process

Following the removal of a fluid sample from a used equipment, the dealer sends it to a lab for analysis and diagnosis using any trace elements that were discovered. The Fluid Analysis portal and CHAIN are then made aware of a report with a suggested course of action. These reports are presented visually on this cloud-based platform. As per Goodchild the routine fluid analysis and historical data will help AI algorithms to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that can reduce downtime by up to 15%.
