Caterpillar, the American heavy equipment manufacturer, has launched a new 352 Straight Boom Excavator designed for the demolition of buildings, bridges, and industrial infrastructure up to five stories high. The machine boasts a maximum reach of 42 feet 2 inches, providing 36% more stick pin height than the standard 352 reach configuration, and can handle attachments weighing up to 13,228 pounds.

Features

One of the new features of the excavator is an optional 25,022-pound removable counterweight, providing more transportation options and reducing costs. Another thing to note is that the machine’s mechanical variable gauge undercarriage is retractable and during transport, it can be retracted to a width of 9 feet 10 inches, and extended to 19 feet 7 inches when working for added stability. A high-efficiency hydraulic fan with standard automatic reverse helps keep the cores free from debris.

In addition to its demolition capabilities, the 352 Straight Boom features standard Cat technologies for increased versatility, precision, and efficiency in excavating applications. The booms, sticks, and frame have been reinforced for added durability, while standard Falling Object Guards protect the roof and P5A laminated windows from falling debris during demolition. The track frame is sloped to prevent mud and debris accumulation, reducing track damage.

The excavator is powered by a 443-horsepower Cat C13B engine, which offers three power modes, namely; Smart, Power, and Eco that really match engine and hydraulic power to the task and reduce fuel consumption. Standard rear view and right hand side view cameras can be upgraded to provide 360-degree visibility, and a premium heated and cooled seat is also standard.

The 352 Straight Boom comes with a host of Cat technologies, including Operator ID, Cat Stick Steer, Auto Dig Boost, Auto Heavy Lift, Cat Lift Assist, Cat Grade with 2D, Cat Payload, Cat Product Link, Remote Troubleshoot, and Remote Flash. Routine maintenance tasks are performed from ground level, and all fuel filters feature an extended, synchronized 1,000-hour change interval.

Caterpillar’s new 352 Straight Boom Excavator offers safe, reliable operation, improved efficiency, and simplified maintenance making it an excellent option for the demolition and excavation industry.
