The Cat C9.3 ACERT engine of this series provides a higher density of power, alongside the most effective air, electronic and fuel systems. The vehicles have also been designed with machine processes to maximise how reliable and durable they are, resulting in a consistent performance. Similarly, the robust transmission and axle design mean that the 972 series can handle the most challenging of applications, making them suitable for a range of projects. Optional equipment add-ons can also increase their reliability, such as the aggregate handler configuration, which provides a higher payload capacity. Other optional equipment includes caplocks to protect from vandalism, which helps to improve the security of the vehicle. 

Technology
The 972 series of used wheel loaders have in-built technology that enables users to wirelessly manage performance, alerting operators to any issues so that they can be managed before having a negative outcome on the project. The production measurement system also provides a payload scale so operators can deliver specific loads, resulting in improved productivity.
