After completely redesigning its ADT lineup last year, Volvo Construction Equipment unveiled the A60, the next generation of its largest articulated dump truck. Aiming directly at high-production hauling jobs, the new model replaces the A60H and offers observable improvements in efficiency, productivity, and operator comfort.
Volvo claims that the new A60 brings about a five percent increase in productivity and a fifteen percent improvement in fuel efficiency. The truck can carry 60.6 US tons of cargo and is designed for demanding applications where reduced fuel consumption and quicker cycle times significantly reduce operating costs.
Increased Power and Improved Hauling Efficiency
The new Volvo drivetrain in the updated A60 is intended to deliver maximum power in every gear. Higher hauling speeds in construction machinery for sale are made possible by new axles and transmission that work in tandem with active hydraulic front suspension to provide stability on uneven terrain. In order to guarantee steady traction and control in difficult site conditions, Volvo has also fitted the truck with hydro-mechanical steering, an all-terrain bogie, automatic drive, and 100% differential locks.
Enhanced Visibility and Comfort in the Cab
Volvo has made significant improvements to the A60’s cab design with an emphasis on user comfort and usability. The cab has a larger Volvo Co-Pilot touchscreen for simpler access to assistance features and machine data, and it is quieter than the previous generation. The hood has been lowered to increase visibility, and optional camera systems and LED lighting help operators stay aware of their surroundings during extended shifts.
Reduced Ownership Costs and a Wiser Drivetrain
Beyond the obvious performance gains, Volvo has made a number of structural and drivetrain upgrades aimed at lowering wear, fuel consumption, and long-term ownership expenses. Volvo Dynamic Drive analyzes incline, wheel speed, and payload, allowing the truck to skip inefficient gears and choose the most efficient one for the situation. This reduces fuel consumption, which is commonly lost during excessive shifting.
Terrain Memory adds another layer of intelligence by detecting slick sections of haul roads and automatically adjusting differential locks to prevent wheel slip.
The Volvo Engine Brake enhances control during descents by combining wet brakes on all wheels, cruise control, downhill speed control, and a service brake retarder. Cycle times are further reduced and fuel efficiency is increased with OptiShift with Reverse by Braking.
Additionally, the A60 has a maintenance-free rotating hitch that is positioned higher for better ground clearance and stability, as well as reinforced axles designed to withstand larger loads and higher torque. Due to easier servicing and longer service intervals than the previous generation, Volvo projects a five percent decrease in maintenance costs over 12,000 operating hours. Additionally, the machine is covered for the duration of initial ownership by Volvo’s lifetime frame and structure warranty, which covers the frame and articulation joint.
Accessibility and Important Details
With a 43.9-cubic-yard bed, 630 horsepower, and 2,183 pound-feet of torque, the Volvo A60 can reach a top speed of 35.4 miles per hour. According to Volvo, the machine can now be ordered and will be unveiled in public at ConExpo 2026, which will take place from March 3–7.
